Vizcaya Cuban 21 Cask Rum, the ultimate sipping rum, is distilled from pure cane juice and aged in oak bourbon barrels which gives Vizcaya its distinctive character, flavor and bouquet. Vizcaya rum is to be enjoyed in a snifter glass to appreciate the fine qualities it has to offer.
Vizcaya Rum Cask No. 21 VXOP is a blend of 18 and 21 year old Rums distilled from sugar cane juice (rather than molasses) and aged in ex-Bourbon casks. Rums produced from sugar cane juice tend to be less sweet and more pungent than those produced from molasses (think Zacappa). Bang-for-the-buck Rum of the year!
By the way, VXOP stands for ‘very extra old preferred’.
Nose: Pungent dried fruit and vanilla with faint cinnamon.<
Palate: Quite sweet but with hints of maple syrup but with balancing delicate dry spiced oak.
Finish: Long fruity spiced finish.
