Tapatío Añejo Tequila
Producer & Region:
This expression is crafted by the famed La Alteña Distillery (NOM 1139) in the highlands of Jalisco (Los Altos), Mexico—an area known for Blue Weber Agave grown at higher elevation, which often gives the spirit a bright, sweet agave character with spice and minerality.
Aging & Production:
-
100% Blue Weber Agave harvested at peak maturity.
-
Double-distilled (traditional copper pot methods) and then aged for about 18 months in former bourbon or American oak barrels.
-
Bottled at ~40% ABV (80 proof).
Tasting Profile:
-
Appearance: Light golden to amber hue from barrel aging.
-
Aroma: Expect sweet cooked agave at the core, evolving into crème brûlée, vanilla, caramel, toasted almonds, and subtle baking spices like cinnamon/pepper.
-
Palate: Rich and layered—cooked agave upfront, followed by cocoa or dark chocolate, vanilla, walnut/almond nuttiness, peppery spice, and hints of dried fruit and woody/earthy under-tones.
-
Finish: Smooth, silky texture, with lingering spice (pepper/chile), softened oak, and persistent agave presence.
On occasion, we run out of stock on a particular vintage and will fill your order with the same item, but of a different vintage. If you do not want to allow a vintage change, please let us know in the message box in your Shopping Cart.
