Nikka’s *Taketsuru Pure Malt Whisky* (Yoichi & Miyagikyo Distilleries, Japan) is a flagship blended malt named in honor of founder Masataka Taketsuru, combining single malts matured in a variety of oak casks, including sherry butts. Pours a warm, bright amber. The nose opens with inviting, complex aromas of fresh red apple, juicy pear, candied orange peel, and floral honey, layered over subtle wood smoke, toasted oak, and gentle espresso. The 43.0% ABV palate is silky, balanced, and rounded, delivering a harmonious core of ripe orchard fruit, dark chocolate, and subtle peat, finishing long, crisp, and refined with a lingering trail of gentle oak spice and light smoke.
