They come from fully ripe grapes. The greater ripeness of the grapes and the slightly higher sweetness compared to MADONNA QbA add to the wines expressive fruitiness, intensive floral bouquet and underlying herbal character. With the purchase of the major portion of the original Liebfrauenmilch vineyard in 1808, Peter Joseph Valckenberg became not only the first private owner and producer of what was already a very popular wine, but also the first significant exporter of German wines. Valckenbergs MADONNA is still exported worldwide and is the leading brand in this category in several markets today.
