Don Julio 1942 “Year of the Horse” 2026 Limited Edition
Celebrate in style.
The Year of the Horse edition of Don Julio 1942 is a specially-released collector’s expression that honours the Chinese Zodiac symbol of the horse — representing strength, elegance and dynamic energy. This 2026 variant is a limited-edition bottling featuring exclusive design and packaging to mark the occasion.
Production & Aging:
-
Made from 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested and distilled in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. (As with the standard Don Julio 1942 profile.)
-
Aged for a minimum of 2.5 years in American white-oak barrels (the standard 1942 aging duration) before bottling.
-
Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), in a 750 ml format for the limited edition 2026 release.
Tasting Profile:
-
Aroma: Expect notes of rich caramel and chocolate, consistent with the core 1942 profile.
-
Palate: Warm oak and vanilla meet roasted agave, delivering a smooth yet elegant experience.
-
Finish: Lingering oak and rich vanilla carry through to the finish, giving this tequila depth and sophistication.
-
For the Year of the Horse edition, retailers highlight extra notes like caramel, tropical fruit and oak-rich undertones.
Why this release stands out:
-
The limited-edition packaging and thematic tribute to the Year of the Horse make it ideal for gifting, display or special-occasion indulgence.
-
It retains the premium craftsmanship and profile of Don Julio 1942 while elevating it with collectible appeal.
-
Being a numbered/limited run adds exclusivity for enthusiasts and collectors.
Serving Suggestions & Pairings:
-
Best enjoyed neat, in a high-quality tequila or whisky glass to allow aromas to open.
-
Try with fine dark chocolate, caramelised nuts, or a sophisticated cigar to highlight its oak and vanilla layers.
-
While premium, it also works in elevated cocktails (e.g., a luxe tequila Old Fashioned) where the spirit shines without being masked.
